The Gift of Sustainability

We believe that the gospel of God’s Kingdom carries the power to transform lives.

Our goal is to provide the help needed to move both individuals and communities into long-term sustainability, not dependence upon any outside source.

One of the primary ways that we accomplish this goal is through our various Skills and Business Development courses. Each of those courses walk students through three stages: Rescue, Restoration, and Release.

Meet Ketty

After moving to the big city of Kampala with her boyfriend, Ketty discovered that she was pregnant. Soon her boyfriend abandoned her and Ketty was evicted. She lost all of her belongings and had nowhere to live.

Ketty found a small tin shack for her and her newborn daughter to live in. Our partners, The Remnant Generation, met her and enrolled her in their vocational program, The School of Purpose. While thriving at school, each night Ketty would return to her shed which flooded every time it rained.

At school, Ketty’s tailoring and catering skills advanced rapidly, but the staff were terribly saddened to discover that her only meals were provided by the school. Ketty could only provide water to fill her daughter’s stomach at night. Ketty and her daughter were quickly brought to live in the Princess Shelter. Her baby is now one of the healthiest children in their daycare, and Ketty continues to excel in her studies.

Ketty has already helped start two small businesses with other students and is working as a chef in a local restaurant. She is saving her profits to put toward her dream of owning her own restaurant one day.
